Pecan-encrusted brie is brilliant. That raspberry sauce on the plate is also amaaaazing. The waitress kept wanting to take things away, though, such as half-eaten brie and a full plate of crackers. :P The burger has the most delicious buttery bun. Fries are fantastic. B got a Jack and Ginger per usual and I had a Diet Coke. There were bones in the Walleye, but there was no major damage to be caused from this. We found the bones before it was too late and set them aside. Once, though, I almost mixed my rice pilaf with the bone collection. Could have been bad. The walleye was also encrusted with pecans, atop a yummy buttery sauce. The vegetables next to the pair of rice and fish were phenomenal... kind of an Asian flavor. Couldn't put my finger on what it was. Had a great time. We sat in the elevated room to the left and were "those people." Good thing the only others around were a pair on dessert who were there at Early Bird Special Hour. I looked at the time and it was about 5-something. Welp, we didn't realize how early it was, but for a Wednesday, I think it's reasonable. After all, an outdated frozen stir fry is what lead us to the beautiful Old Mission Peninsula drive, and into the doors of the Grill. Come as you are, but please make sure you come hungry- big portions, so big that the two of us had plenty left over (he hates slash never brings food home, but I have no shame- I ate the remainder of my fish at 10AM the next day. Is that gross? My sister justified it as "brunch")

I love this place! After getting hitched down at the courthouse my new husband and I decided to wander down the peninsula. Hungry, we stopped here--having never been before--and they were still trying to open up as it was early. They were totally gracious with us, sat us down and brought us free cheescake to celebrate. We had the cherry chicken salad which was wonderful--fresh, crisp, and well cooked. Hopefully we'll get the chance to wander back out to Peninsula Grill this summer!

The atmosphere is as casual as you'll find on the peninsula, the staff is very friendly, he prices are reasonable, and the food is uniformly good. Particular standouts are the fried perch, the cherry chicken salad, the pecan encrusted whitish and the excellent hamburger. I've had a number of very original and very tasty daily specials, too.

While I LOVE Peninsula Grill, tonight was a swing and a miss. I live on Old Mission Peninsula and am a frequent flier. Even though the place was hoppin' I was seated immediately, awesome! It took about 15 min to get a drink. Not so much. I ordered Lobster Mac & Cheese for $19.95. I've had it several times before at a lesser price ($14.95) and always great flavor with lots of chunks of lobster. Tonite, flavor good but NO lobster meat. Sent it back, waitress returned with same plate, stating the cooks assured her there were lots of small pieces....I just couldn't see them. Hmmm. She took it off my check, thankfully but nobody from management stopped over to make amends. Stiff martini had me crocked so I had to eat. I ordered the last bbw pork flatbread before they ran out. It'd have meant the world if a manager checked in with me....Nope. Good waitstaff tonight even though they are slammed. So am I now! Wonder if management reads yelp?

We visited the peninsula to do our wine tasting. We found this place at yelp. My hubby felt in love with the Cuban sandwich pictures. We wait until late night because it was close for breakfast. When we got in the Cuban sandwich was not listed on the menu. Ardy our server was able to talk to the cook and he made it. Making our night awesomely. Ardy took good care of us and joke around. We loved the service!!! Thanks!!

We had dinner here recently. My scallops were just ok, husband's salmon dry. Lunch is better.

Holy craparooni. I wish there were six stars. This place is the bomb dot com. Food was epic, we got the calamari appetizer, cherry chicken salad and lobster mac. Huge portions, great prices, amazing servers. I want to take this restaurant behind the middle school and get it pregnant.

I've never written a yelp review before, which should tell you something about the terrible time I had at this restaurant. The food was mediocre. The fried walleye sandwich was flavorless and I found a bone. The mushroom flatbread tasted of garlic and spinach and had no mushroom flavor. Worst of all was the service. I'm by no means a snob and I generally only notice service when it is bad. We waited 10 minutes to be seated and the restaurant was not busy. We ordered immediately and waited an hour to find out that our order had not even been cooked. When we finally got our food 30 minutes thereafter, we then had to suffer through eating it. The wait staff comped our meal, but I would have rather paid $20 for a bag of chips and left with my 2 hours back. This restaurant is a waste of your time and money.

To start, it was FREEZING. It's March, it's cold outside, but I was not expecting it to be so cold inside. The fans were on too. It was not good. Hubs orders the loaded mac and cheese, I ordered the butternut squash ravioli. We weren't a fan of either. My ravioli was pretty flavorless and his mac and cheese was too rich. To make it worse, the cold and the fans made our meals lukewarm in no time. Mediocre food is passable when warm. Cold food? Forget about it. Service seemed to fizzle out at the end, and we opted to skip dessert. We determined on the drive home with our upset tummies, we won't be back. Maybe it's what we chose and we were just there on the wrong night, but we've had much better in TC.

AMAZING! Great food and even better service. I had the steak with a lobster butter sauce, garlic fingerling potatoes and FRESH green beans. Knocked my socks off! They have a great local beer selection. The atmosphere is cozy and laid back. Not stuff but yet not to causal. Rustic and warm interior. The staff is really friendly and very knowledgable. We will be back!

Visited for the first time with friends and everyone loved the food. The lunch version of the Parmesan crusted whitefish and mussels in curry sauce were s huge hit.

The food was excellent. The service...not so much. This was our first anniversary dinner and wanted something special. Given the reviews, we figured this had to be a nice place. What happened next leads me to question ever coming back. To start off, we had the mussels. Wow. Cooked perfectly and would certainly be getting them again. Wanted to get a side of bread to dip in the sauce in the plate. But the server would pass us by and not even acknowledge or obvious signs of needing help. One star. The second star deduction is due to what happened when our entrees came out. We were obviously still working on the mussels and waiting to ask for some bread...When all the sudden he comes out with our entrees, takes my side plate for the mussels throws in on the main plate of mussels which still has yet to be consumed mussels on it(!) and hurriedly throws our food in front of us. I was stunned and upset. Nevertheless, my wife had the parmesan crusted whitefish and I had the walleye. Both of which, like is said, were excellent. Too bad a wonderful evening was tarnished by the service provided.

Very poor experience about sums it up. We found a long brown hair on our hush puppy sauce (not our own), three 3 to 4 inch twigs/stems from dried herbs in my chicken confit. The waitress was absent much of the dinner and kept me waiting 10 minutes after bringing the bill to cash me out at the end of the meal. Sadly, the kids Mac and Cheese was about the best thing on the table. To be fair the scallop and pork belly appetizer was so so and the tomato jelly on the chicken confit was delicious balancing out an otherwise oily salty mess. Given the high prices, iffy cooking, poor service, and mediocre decor... I would not recommend this establishment.

I would give it ZERO stars if I could. Sat at the bar (fairly busy) for 20 minutes. The douchebag bartender did not even acknowledge us. I'm not talking "what can I get you" I'm talking "hey guys, be with you in a minute". Nothing. Icing on the cake some locals came on and sat at a 2 top behind us. He yells over our heads "Mark, what can I get ya". We left. Went to the Jolly Pumpkin. Bartender there told us the Pen. Grill likes to cater to locals. Bottom line...tourists, take your money elsewhere.

My husband and I ate here late August. There were a few people dining outside on the patio. We opted for a table inside. The restaurant is very attractive and has a nice ambiance. We found the service to be very good. Our server was extremely pleasant and vivacious, sometimes a bit too much, but I'd rather have a bubbly server than a sourpuss. I would like to give The Peninsula Grill more than three stars, but unfortunately, we both were disappointed with our meals. I had the Parmesan whitefish. It was tasty, but it was incredibly dry. The menu says it is baked in a sauce, however, there wasn't a drop of it on my plate. Having a sauce would have made all the difference. Fresh string beans were the side. They were fresh, but not cleaned properly. Many still had a bit of the stalk on the tip. My husband ordered the grilled beef tenderloin rare. It came out medium to well. He said it was a good cut of beef, just not cooked to order. Based on all the great reviews, we were somewhat disappointed with our experience.

Great food. TERRIBLE service. Never was asked or given a refill on our drinks and it took forever to cash out / get the servers attention when we were ready to leave.

Great meal again. My husband & I find this to be a must stop when visiting Old Mission peninsula. We enjoy the fresh food and nice selection of Michigan wines. The service is good and friendly.

Laid back and kid friendly. Great service. Pepperjack soup was a winner, as was the caprese salad, other salads, and fish tacos. The only con was the arnold palmer: clearly made with some off the shelf high-fructose tea... way too sweet

I think this restaurant is probably a little overrated. Ordered the seafood pasta and for the price, I don't feel like it was anything special. Sauce was thin, noodles somewhat sticky. Seafood was cooked well but it isn't something I would order again. Although the food was subpar I really enjoyed the atmosphere in the restaurant and the bartender was a hoot!

We ate lunch here on a Sunday during a motorcycle trip to Traverse City. We chose Peninsula Grill based on recommendations from two locals. The place is nice, easy to find and has a good menu. I had the BBQ ribs and Rickee had the Summer Salad. Both were good. Service was quick and efficient. However, the place was nearly empty on our visit. Not sure why.

After visiting the Chateau Chantal winery this past Sunday, I was a little drunk and a lot hungry. " I need a cheeseburger!! I told my boyfriend. But I was saddened when he told me we were in the middle of vineyards and probably wouldn't find many restaurants. Now- this rating of 5 stars is not for my meal so much as I am a food snob and its hard to impress me. The burger I was craving only came with lettuce and tomato (lame) and there may have been an option to add cheese for some amount of change, but that wasn't cutting it for me so I defaulted my pick to steak sliders with bleu cheese aioli and pickles and got chips instead of fries because I'm not a fry person. ( here is the good part!) ... My boyfriend got the Cuban sandwich and fries. Simple enough order, I've had Cuban's... they're ok. But this sandwich was made by God himself I tell you. I can't even describe the flavors to you in this post because I literally blank out when I think about this sandwich. It was THE BEST thing I have ever eaten in my life!!!! I stole his sandwich AND fries because the fries were equally as amazing!! I know my food. I don't know what they did to these fries but I stole all of them from him and left him with none!! If you have the opportunity to eat this sandwich and fries, I can honestly tell you that you will die happy.

We decided to try this restaurant partly because it was one of the only options on Old Mission Peninsula, partly because it had good reviews, and mostly because Boathouse was too expensive! I had the Parmesan whitefish, and it really was delicious just like one of the other reviews said. Overall, our dinner was very nice. I would eat here again.

I had a truly excellent experience at the Peninsula Grill recenty with two new friends. The service was friendly and fast and they've got a great local wine list. We tried a cherry wine which was really delicious. My entree was an amazing whitefish from Lake Superior with rice and green beans (with a perfect crunch). The environment is very casual, but the food is much more upscale (and I think, reasonably priced for what you get!) Definitely worth a visit!

We stopped in for a late lunch after touring a couple of wineries. We had an order of Smoked Ribs Dry Rubbed and an order of Beer Battered Perch. The ribs were a 1/2 slab, very meaty with a good rub. The menu says the ribs are slow roasted in apple juice and basted with BBQ sauce. The ribs were very tasty and the portion was big enough for a dinner. The fries that accompanied the ribs were excellent. The perch meal was quite decent as well - absolutely nothing to complain about. There is a very casual atmosphere for a place in wine country; no snootiness here - just good food, plastic tablecloths, friendly, but not necessarily quick, service.

Let me start by saying that was the best meal I've had at a restaurant in a long time, and the best overall dining experience as well. It started In the parking lot of Jolly Pumpkin where my fiance and I were searching for somewhere else to go after we were told it would be an hour and 20 minute wait. We called Peninsula grill, which is just around the corner, and asked how busy they were. They told us they were pretty busy but that they would save us a table. We showed up a few minutes later, and just as promised they had a table for two waiting for us. The ambience is rustic, yet romantic; exactly what you would expect on a winery filled peninsula in Northern Michigan. The waitress was at our table right away, and she was very pleasant. She had drinks on our table in a flash while we admired the rest of the menu. We started with the red curry mussels and shrimp. Im a huge Thai fan and this dish did not disappoint. In fact it was better than most Thai dishes I've had at Thai restaurants in the area. For an entree I had the hangar steak; it was served with a mushroom demi glaze that was superb, and the steak was perfectly cooked and extremely tender and juicy. It came with cheddar mashed potatoes, and mashed sweet potatoes, which were both equally delicious. I couldn't get enough of that red curry sauce that came with the mussels though, and even though the demi glaze on the steak was outstanding, I couldn't help but dip a piece or two in the curry sauce. At one point the waitress came by and asked if she could take the mussel plate away and I hurriedly told her no. She laughed and asked if she could bring some more bread for dipping then instead, which I of course accepted. I spent the remainder of our time there sopping the rest of that curry sauce up with delicious homemade bread and devouring it. Needless to say we were thoroughly impressed with Peninsula Grill, and will probably make it a new favorite spot for date nights.

Nice place! Johnny the bartender is friendly and makes great conversation. Had the Bang Bang Shrimp- it was a little greasy but the shrimp were big and the sauce was awesome. The walleye was light and flaky- very good and very reasonably priced. Would definitely visit again!
